The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for expert discussion on key aspects of the relationship between the laws of Member States and the European Union, which have a significant impact on court practice, the legislative process and the protection of individual rights. Participants will focus in particular on the role of constitutional courts in the context of European law, the principle of the primacy of European Union law, the binding nature of decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union on national courts, and the relationship between constitutional courts and general courts in assessing European law in terms of referring questions for a preliminary ruling.
